7/22 – With Sigmund Romberg’s birthday coming up on July 29th, now is a great time to venture into the world of operetta on bel canto. Tune in for selections from The Student Prince, The Desert Song, and The New Moon as well as some music of Romberg’s compatriots, Franz Lehar, Victor Herbert and Rudolf Friml.

 

7/29 – Exploring the repertoire of the mezzo-soprano with Cecilia Bartoli, Elina Garanca, Marilyn Horne, Christa Ludwig, Susan Graham, Joyce di Donato, Janet Baker, Anne-Sophie von Otter and others.

 

8/5 – Celebrating the Prima Donna…exploring the repertoire for soprano with Callas, Sills, Price, Damrau, Netrebko, Fleming, Sutherland and others.

 

8/12 – Oh, those baritones!  Even when they are evil, their rich resonant tones can melt your heart. Exploring the baritone repertoire with Sherrill Milnes, Robert Merrill, Bryn Terfel, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Thomas Quasthoff, Tito Gobbi and others.

 

8/19 – The tenors have it!  bel canto celebrates the glorious voices of Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Mario Lanza, Jussi Bjorling, Jonas Kaufmann, Andrea Bocelli and others.

 

8/26 – Franz Schubert’s Schwanengesang – the final works from the “Lied King” and my personal favorites from the Lied repertoire, including works of Brahms, Schumann, R. Strauss and Wolf.
