TWU THEATRE PRESENTS ‘THE WAL*MART-IANS’

Oct. 11-15
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm with a 4 pm performance on Thursday and 2 pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday

Written and directed by TWU Associate Professor of Theatre Steven Young, The Wal*Mart-ians was originally produced in Chicago. It won the 2003 Chicago Arts & Entertainment’s Best Comedy of the Year.
The Wal*Mart-ians is an apocalyptic comedy set in small town Iowa. It is the 70th birthday of the cashed strapped, but land rich, widow, Jan Gunter. Her family arrives late to the party, more interested in the potential of Jan’s final will than a celebration of her life. Over the course of the day, the materfamilias uses the implied threat of being cut from the will as a soapbox to condemn the lifestyles of her daughter’s spouses, friends and careers by pitting family members against family members. The setting becomes a literal powder keg set to explode at any moment as the characters tear each other, and themselves, apart.
