Garden Rain: A Day at the Spa features music and sounds reminiscent of those typically heard in day spas throughout the city, specifically legendary Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu’s Rain Tree for three percussionists, Toward the Sea for alto flute and guitar, and Garden Rain for brass choir. The program will also feature Alan Hovhaness’s mystic Mountains and Rivers Without End for chamber orchestra, as well as Bernard Rogers’ 1950s classic Three Japanese Dances. The program will conclude with Meadows composer Xi Wang’s Music for Piano, Percussion and Wind Ensemble.
