The Meadows Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Jon D. Lee, presents its fall concert of works running the gamut from light and fun to dark and intense. Featured will be Steve Reich’s Sextet, a landmark piece from the most influential living American composer, and Marc Mellits’ Gravity, a marimba and vibraphone quintet that draws inspiration from Reich’s works. The concert will also present Angela Fuller Heyde, principal second violin of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, on Lou Harrison’s Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra. Rounding out the event will be several other classic and brand new works of percussion repertoire.
