Denton Community Service of Unity and Prayer

Oct. 9

As many communities across our nation are plagued by violence and racial tension, this service provides an opportunity to celebrate our oneness with God, and to foster through prayer, our ongoing desire for understanding and unity in our city.

The guest speaker will be Les Vamer, quarterback of the historic 1972 integrated Denton High School football team chronicled in the documentary, “When We Were All Broncos.” A mass community choir will provide special music.

The idea for this service flowed out of the work being done by the Denton Together Coalition, and is a collaboration of many area churches and civic leaders. The organizing churches for this service are St. James AME, Morse Street Baptist, Faith UMC, and First UMC.

All Denton area residents and members of law enforcement are invited to attend as we gather together to celebrate the diversity of our City and join our prayers for unity and peace.
