Arts on Abrams, the concert series at Wilshire Baptist Church, offers a welcome alternative to the noise of election season with Beethoven’s epic “Eroica Symphony” at McIver Chapel on Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 pm. This great music was reworked by Beethoven’s student and assistant Ferdinand Ries into a version performable by four musicians. According to violist Ute Miller, “It was fairly common, before there was the technology to make recordings, to create smaller versions of pieces just to get them heard live by more people.” With the help of the digital archives of the Beethoven-Haus Museum in Bonn, Germany, listeners will have the rare opportunity to hear this incredible quartet. Also on the program will be the very romantic Trio in B major by Johannes Brahms, and wistfully beautiful music for viola and piano by Brahms’ friend Robert Fuchs.

Mount Vernon Music’s Orchard Ensemble presents special guests Evan Mitchell, piano and Nikola Ruzevic, cello with Mark Miller, violin and Ute Miller, viola.
