AIR Time presents Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin of Brad Oldham Sculpture

Nov. 16

7:00pm: Interview with Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin of Brad Oldham Sculpture moderated by David Fisher, Asst. Director for the Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs
7:45pm: screening of the movie FRIDA 2002 (2hr 3min, R) starring Salma Hayek, Alfred Molina, and Geoffrey Rush
Owners of Brad Oldham Sculpture, Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin approach their craft in the same manner as they do their life, in collaboration. With a flash of inspiration and a riff on possibility and narrative, these talented artists each seek his or her individual creative path to bring ideas to fruition. Brad sculpts shapes and clay figures to create a prototype resulting in brilliant stainless steel, bronze, aluminum and brass pieces. Christy builds the character of the piece implementing her medium (vivid imagination), and brings the story to life. What results is a sculpture that takes flight, like their iconic BIRD, and then alights in homes and neighborhoods, public spaces and institutions where the poetic story continues to unfold.
While Brad focuses on larger works, Christy has, among other projects, created a stellar line of smaller sculptures called “Tiny Sparks.” These marvelous memory pieces carry uplifting messages to the recipients improving quality of life in a myriad of ways.

The movie for this third offering in Season 7 of AIR Time is FRIDA, the 2002 film about the tumultuous life of artist Frida Kahlo and her marriage to artist Diego Rivera.
