Video Lecture from Knox Martin at the Arlington Museum of Art
Arlington Museum of Art
201 W. Main St.
Arlington, TX

Knox Martin is a Colombian-born abstract/expressionistic artist now living and working in the United States. He is a painter, sculptor and muralist and is most well-known for his use of abstract signs and symbols that often allude to nature and the female form. His work often includes the use of bright/vibrant colors and is sometimes executed on a grand scale, such as on the outside of buildings. In this video of the lecture "What is Art?" Knox discusses what makes something a work of art. He shares his thoughts on what it takes to create art and why some "art" is not really art at all. Just because you make something and say it is art doesn't mean it is truly art. For information: 817-275-4600   or arlingtonmuseum.org
