BRUCE WOOD DANCE PROJECT Season 2
Montgomery Arts Theater at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts
2501 Flora Street
Dallas, TX
Ticket Price: $35-$100
Program 1 launches with a world premiere by Joshua L. Peugh, an award-winning Southern Methodist University dance alum and co-founder of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance in Seoul, South Korea. Invited by Wood as Associate Choreographer, Peugh’s new work, Slump, is a zany, dark comedy that captures the nuances of human courtship and its persistent repetition. Slump is set to a mix of Klezmer music and song and songs by Yma Sumac and Ella Fitzgerald. Wood’s world premiere, I’m My Brother’s Keeper features an all-male cast of mixed generations. This innovative and poignant work focuses on the emotional undercurrents of three iconic male relationships. The piece is understated, yet gripping. Wood collaborates with Dallas Theater Center’s Joel Ferrel and singer/songwriter/actor Gary Floyd on a mash-up of text, vocals, and the music of Philip Glass. Back by popular demand for a rousing finale is Wood’s Lovett!. First premiered in 2000, Lovett! has been performed around the nation and is one of Wood’s most requested dances. Hilarious, inventive, and thigh-slapping fun, Lovett! is praised as being quintessentially Texas—and vintage Wood. For information: 214–428–2263 or www.brucewoodance.org
