No reservations are required; families may just drop in for stories, history, and art-making fun. Artist's Tool Box: How to Paint Like an Artist - Families will explore the tools and techniques that Western artists Charles M. Russell and Frederic Remington used to create their vibrant paintings. In the studio classroom, the children will create their own paintings on canvas. Celebrating its 30th anniversary year, the museum holds one of the most significant private collections of paintings by Frederic Remington (1861-1909) and Charles M. Russell (1864-1926) in the U.S. The paintings of the 19th century American West by Remington and Russell are from the personal collection of the legendary Texas oilman and philanthropist, Sid W. Richardson (1891-1959). Nearly one million visitors from all 50 states and 68 countries have toured the museum since it opened in 1982. Admission to the museum is free. The museum is open daily except for major holidays, at the following hours: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is wheelchair accessible.
