No reservations are required; families may just drop in for stories, history, and art-making fun. Storytelling in Art: Make Your Own Puppets - Families will learn how artists create visual stories in their paintings while hearing stories inspired by the Sid Richardson collection. Then, in the studio, the children will create cloth puppets based on characters in the museum's paintings. Celebrating its 30th anniversary year, the museum holds one of the most significant private collections of paintings by Frederic Remington (1861-1909) and Charles M. Russell (1864-1926) in the U.S. The paintings of the 19th century American West by Remington and Russell are from the personal collection of the legendary Texas oilman and philanthropist, Sid W. Richardson (1891-1959). Nearly one million visitors from all 50 states and 68 countries have toured the museum since it opened in 1982. Admission to the museum is free. The museum is open daily except for major holidays, at the following hours: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is wheelchair accessible.
