Theatre Brookhaven: A Night of One Acts
in the Arena Theatre at Brookhaven College
3939 Valley View Lane
Farmers Branch, TX
Ticket Price: $8 adults $6 students/seniors
“Sorry, Wrong Number,” directed by Charles Self, is a gripping mystery thriller about a handicapped woman who relies on phone communication to reach the outside world. When phone wires cross, she overhears a plot for her own murder and is forced to seek help through limited resources. Directed by Darise Error, “Opening” is a fictional conversation inspired by real events. The play recounts the challenge Hattie McDaniel, Mammy in “Gone with the Wind,” faced, finding herself at a crossroads when the movie’s producer instructs her to decline her invitation to the Atlanta premiere. With her career at stake, she sorrowfully submits to his request. “Beyond Tolerance,” a satiric illustration of extremism, tells the story of Gracious Mary Sensible, a new student at U. Burnem. Taking tolerance and political correctness to the extreme, Mary’s new school requires conformity to their ideas – noncompliance could mean death. “Beyond Tolerance” is directed by Lisa Devine.
