Latino Cultural Center presents José Limón: Speaking Eloquently Through Movement
Latino Cultural Center
2600 Live Oak
Dallas, TX

José Limón (1908-1972), one of the most renowned Mexican- American choreographers, was a storyteller of epic proportions who, in his memoirs, spoke of himself as an interpreter. Throughout his extensive choreographic career, he called on historical figures from his Spanish/Mexican Indian heritage to express socio-political themes that transcended cultural boundaries. In this lecture, Patty Harrington Delaney will focus on two of his works, La Malinche and Carolotta. Patty Harrington Delaney is the Chair of the Division of Dance at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
