214-808-5569 is an exhibition of painting, drawing, and installation by Dallas artist Courtney Miles. In her work, Courtney blends her own identity with the notion of celebrity to highlight the tension between reality and artifice. Exploring a persona based on celebrity, she calls attention to its stereotypes, attractions, and its self-absorption. Through branding, Courtney weighs the conflict of self-promotion and privacy in the current generation. Courtney was born in Dallas. She received her BFA from Texas Christian University and her MA & MFA in arts from the University of Dallas.
