Set during the last years of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), “Fame” is the bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today. With its topical subject manner, multi-ethnic cast of actors, singers, dancers and instrumentalists and high-energy, contemporary pop score “Fame” is an ideal musical for young performers. This is a production for Next Generation Players, ages 8 to 18. A parent must accompany their minor children. Auditioners should bring a headshot and resume to their appointment, but no experience is required. They should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a Broadway song and 16 bars of a ballad. Please bring sheet music for songs. Auditioners may or may not be asked to sing both songs. For information: 972-485-8884 or www.garlandcivictheatre.org
