the UNT College of Music presents the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s Ahab Symphony, written for UNT Symphony Orchestra, Grand Chorus, and faculty tenor soloist Richard Croft. One of the leading opera composers of our time, Heggie wrote Ahab Symphony as a meditation on ideas first explored in his critically-acclaimed opera Moby-Dick. The concert’s “sea” theme also includes Mendelssohn’s Overture: Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, and Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes.
