Haley-Henman proudly announces Madeleine Terry's Stuck in the Middle with You, a solo exhibition of a new series. This premier of Ms. Terry's six works of acrylic and pen on paper marks the inaugural exhibition of Gallery 422 at The Workroom. The series began when a song from the past, "Stuck" (by G. Rafferty and J. Egan) popped into her mind and stayed. During this time, the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, designed by Calatrava, was getting ready for completion with a long awaited opening. Simultaneously, Haley-Henman was directing a large collaborative art installation, called "Connections", involving 30 core artists and over 100 community participants in one of West Dallas Investment's Trinity Grove properties, at the base of the new bridge. Madeleine Terry was inspired by these big efforts and how they are part of our civilization, particularly how individuals come together to work in large innovative projects. Her approach focuses on the playful and satirical aspects when there will always be that moment when "I fall off my chair", and "I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs" (lyrics from "Stuck"). These artworks portray a situational fantasy and a satire on the state of human beings--how indeed we are amusing when "I am stuck in the middle with you and I'm wondering what it is I should do".
