Dave Mitchell: Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, October 4. A fourth-generation North Texan. Graduate of Lewisville High School. Attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX and Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. Served in U.S. Army during Vietnam War.
38 years in broadcasting business as an announcer, newscaster, sportscaster, traffic reporter, talk show host, engineer and broadcast executive. Independent voice-over artist on numerous projects. Began at KEIR-FM in Dallas in 1966 worked mostly at radio stations in North Texas until 1984. In 1984 began as a traffic reporter with Traffic Patrol Broadcasting as a part-time mobile reporter. Advanced to Airborne Reporter, Anchor, Director of Operations and National Director of operations. Began as Anchor and Engineer with Metro Networks which purchased Traffic Patrol in 1990. Worked for Metro in Miami, Charlotte, West Palm Beach, Miami and Dallas markets.
Biggest stories worked on as news reporter: Hurricanes Hugo (1989) and Andrew (1992). 1984 Republican National Convention. Collaspe of PTL Television empire in 1986. Expansion of National Basketball Association in 1998.
Married, three children, four grandchildren. Currently reside in Little Elm, Texas.
Second career as ordained minister and pastor. Served churches in Florida and Texas. Currently serve as one of the pastors at Cornerstone Worship Center in Little Elm, Texas.
Hobbies: Reading and writing (mostly theology and science-fiction), Amateur (Ham) Radio and following Major League Baseball. |
