Mu phi Epsilon concert: violin students of Jan sloman

Jan Mark Sloman served as associate concertmast= er of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since 1977 and is now retired. A former= University Scholar and Naumburg Grant recipient at Princeton University, M= r. Sloman was accepted without audition at the Curtis Institute of Music. H= e performed as concertmaster of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentin= o in Florence, Italy, with conductors such as Carlos Kleiber, Zubin Mehta a= nd Carlo Maria Giullini, and has performed as guest concertmaster of the Or= chestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, orchestras in Lugano and Melbourne,= and the Pittsburgh Symphony at the invitation of Lorin Maazel. A noted tea= cher, Sloman was named Texas Music Teacher Association’s Music Teacher= of the Year in 2004. The competitive success of his students has brought h= im not only national recognition but also recent invitations to teach in Eu= rope and China. He will present some of his outstanding students.
