Meadows Percussion Ensemble Alumni Concert Honoring Doug Howard

Sept. 22

2:30 pm

To honor Doug Howard, who retired this year after more than 40 years of teaching percussion at the Meadows School of the Arts, the Meadows Percussion Ensemble is presenting its first-ever alumni concert. The concert will feature eight new works composed for this special occasion by Christopher Deane, associate professor of percussion at University of North Texas; Dr. Lane Harder, alumnus, Meadows faculty member and director of the SYZYGY ensemble; alumni Justin Preece and Del Cook; and others. Ensemble director Jon Lee and current students will be joined by Meadows Percussion Ensemble alumni from all over the country, many of whom will perform in the concert. They have distinguished themselves as musicians, professors and entrepreneurs, and the Ensemble is thrilled to welcome them back to campus for this unique event. As Meadows celebrates its 50th anniversary, it is fitting to honor a faculty member who has been at Meadows for almost that entire time.
