A practicing architect since 1979, Ann Abernathy has devoted her career to creating forms that enliven the human experience and enhance a spatial connection to the natural environment. She has taught architectural design at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and University of Texas at Dallas.
Ms. Abernathy was project architect for the restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home in Oak Park, Illinois, for which she received the American Institute of Architects National Honor Award. In 2005, she led the effort to secure City of Dallas Historic Landmark designation for the Wright-designed Kalita Humphreys Theater, and led a team in developing The Kalita Humphreys Theater at Turtle Creek Master Plan for the City of Dallas. She founded KTC, a non-profit conservancy devoted to the restoration of the neglected theater, surrounding park, and stewardship of this cultural treasure (WrightInThePark.org).
