Amon Carter Museum of American Art presents Samuel F. B. Morse's Gallery of the Louvre and the Art of Invention

The Amon Carter is delighted to participate in a national tour organized by the Terra Foundation for American Art of Samuel F. B. Morse’s iconic painting Gallery of the Louvre (1831–1833). Though Morse is most widely known as a scientist and inventor, he was a leading artist of his time and served as president of the National Academy of Design. Gallery of the Louvre stands as one of Morse’s last great artistic achievements.

Labyrinth Walk Coffee House Lady Diamond sparkles in Jazz Under the Stars

Lady Diamond is the 3rd performer in a series of 4 performances present by Labyrinth Walk Coffee House. Scheduled for the Gazebo, performance will move inside if weather is bad. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and may bring food and beverages (beer and wine allowed. Tickets available on line or at the gate. Lady Diamond is an incredibly multi-talented woman gives vocal performances with a jazz style leaves her audience wanting more. One could arguably say her style is a mixture of Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Diane Krall. She sung background for Michael Bolton, Andrae Crouch and many more and is the emcee of the World Famous House of Blues Sunday Gospel and appears there regularly as a jazz artist.

THE WARTIME ESCAPE: Margret and H.A. Rey’s Journey from France

Beloved monkey Curious George, the main character in the children’s books and animated episodes shown on PBS, almost didn’t exist. Margret and H.A. Rey, creators of Curious George, were German-Jews honeymooning in Paris in June 1940 just after Hitler commenced the invasion of France. The exhibit chronicles Rey’s escape from France and the Nazis. During their harrowing escape they carried with them the manuscripts that would be the impetus for the mischievous primate known to generations as Curious George.
