AMY Bishop Weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Born and raised in the Houston area, Amy first fell in love with classical music at a young age as an avid listener of KUHF Houston Public Radio, along with the former KRTS 92.1. WRR was naturally one of the first stations programmed in her radio when she moved to North Texas to pursue her studies at the University of North Texas in Denton.
During her freshman year, Amy started working at KNTU FM 88.1, UNT's student-run campus radio station. Her first on-air shift was playing classical music on Sunday mornings at 6 am. (If she only knew then that working in radio would require waking up before sunrise for years to come!) Over the course of her college career, Amy continued working at KNTU, eventually working her way up to the student program director, under the direction of long-time DFW broadcaster Mark Lambert.
Studying as an exchange student in Tuebingen, Germany, in 2002 led to completion of a Bachelor of Arts in German. Leaving UNT in 2005, Amy's first love was radio and set out to work for a mixed bag of metroplex radio stations after graduation – as a part-time anchor and reporter for KRLD 1080 and the Texas State Network, and as a weekend announcer at WRR during 2007. Most recently, Amy was one of KRLD's full-time airborne traffic reporters covering Collin and Denton counties.
Missing the creative environment of classical radio, she was thrilled to return home to WRR as the new morning show host in April of 2009.
A self-proclaimed Beatles know-it-all, Amy loves all genres of music, especially jazz and classical. She serves as a board member for the Friends of the University of North Texas Libraries.
