John Rutter Live! Exclusive Interview April 16, 2015

John Rutter is in Dallas for a world premiere of his new work " The Gift of Life-Six Canticles of Creation". He is conducting the choir and orchestra of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church as they perform his new choral composition. 101.1 WRR was fortunate enough to have him stop by our station for an exclusive interview on the Classic Cafe.

 

He has guest-conducted or lectured at many concert halls, universities, churches, music festivals, and conferences in Europe, Africa, North and Central America and Australasia. He is an honorary Fellow of Westminster Choir College, Princeton and a Fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians. The Archbishop of Canterbury conferred a Lambeth Doctorate of Music upon him in recognition of his contribution to church music.

Jesse Rosen and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra May 15, 2014

WRR spoke with Jesse Rosen, Honorary Chair of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Gala Concert, for the Classic Cafe. 

 

He is the president and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, has been recognized as one of the outstanding thinkers in contemporary performing arts leadership. Mr. Rosen has stimulated innovation throughout his more than 10-year tenure at the League. He was instrumental in creating new programs such as Music Alive, the American Conducting Fellows, and Ford Made in America. A trombonist, Mr. Rosen received his bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and pursued graduate studies at The Juilliard School.


Anne Akiko Meyers, violin March 12, 2014 A new release of "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi puts the spotlight on a very rare instrument, played by Meyers, a world-renowned soloist. Meyers talks about her approach to Vivaldi and what makes her violin so special.
