Cliburn at the bass: 2009 Cliburn gold medalist Haochen Zhang
The youngest pianist in the 2009 Competition, The Dallas Morning News observed that Haochen “Zhang, from China…demonstrated a musical maturity almost unimaginable in one so young.” Since his solid gold performance in Fort Worth, Mr. Zhang has traveled the world as a musical ambassador of the Van Cliburn Foundation with performances in China, Germany and Poland, as well as on some of America’s finest performing arts series. In demand from coast to coast, in the Bay Area he performed in recital on both the Steinway Series and with the San Francisco Symphony to acclaim. Highlights of the next season include East Coast engagements with the Philadelphia Orchestra and recitals in Atlanta and Boston. For information: www.cliburn.org
